Configuring Port Monitoring / Mirroring on Dell Networking Switches
In general, a monitoring port should not have an IP address and a termination as the only setting. A monitoring port cannot be part of a VLAN either.
Important to know:
- Port monitoring is supported on physical and logical interfaces such as virtual area network (VLAN) and port-channel.
- The monitored (source) and monitoring (target) ports must be on the same switch.
- In general, a monitoring port should not have an IP address and a termination as the only setting. A monitoring port cannot be part of a VLAN either.
- There can only be one target port in a monitoring session.
- A port monitoring session can have multiple source claims.
- A destination port can be used across multiple sessions.
